Edward J. Kowalkowski of Anthony, FL passed away April 24, 2017. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, 322nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron. He was born in South Milwaukee, WI December 17, 1932, and married Carol Deiss in 1960.
Ed was a business man who built three successful businesses, All Season Harley-Davidson, Reality World McKay Ellis Real-estate and Appraisal Services Company in Eau Claire, WI. Ed was one of the first small businesses to utilize micro-computing technology. He was hired as the City Tax Assessor for the city of Racine, WI in 1984. Ed and Carol retired in 1995 moving to Anthony, Florida.
Ed's passion since childhood was racing pigeons. He was a member of several clubs, including The Marion County Racing Pigeon Club.
Ed was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and later Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by parents Edmund and Anna Gutsch, Frances Kowalkowski, brother Edwin Gutsch, and daughter Lorene Anderson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol, daughter Kathy(Larry)Meyers of Raymore, MO, son John(Penny) of Chicago, IL and grandchildren Ryan(Amber)Anderson, Pace, FL, Ashly(Mark)Rubins, Gainesville, FL, and Georgina Rose Kowalkowski of Chicago, IL plus two great grandchildren Caleb and Braden Anderson of Pace, FL.
Ed will be missed by all the lives he touched along his life's journey. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church, Ocala, FL on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. at 2:30 p.m.
Ed was a friend to all animals. Remembrances may be made to Best Friends Animal Society at BestFriends.org . Arrangements were made by Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala, Florida.
