Harold Allen Edward Everett Doty (Edward or Ed to his family and friends), passed peacefully at his home in Oklahoma City on April 24, 2017. He was born in Houston, Texas on August 9, 1980 to Harold and Melody Doty and moved to Oklahoma as a child. He attended Putnam City schools and Crescent Academy and resided in Oklahoma City for the remainder of his life.
Edward was very close with his family, and enjoyed spending time sharing meals or watching games surrounded by them. An avid sports fan, he particularly enjoyed hockey, football and basketball. He had a big interest in music, and could talk for hours about bands he liked and performances he'd seen (of which, there were many. Concertgoing was among his favorite pastimes). He was funny, quick-witted and loved to laugh and to make others laugh. He had a kind and gentle heart, and was very generous. Ed loved deeply, and he was deeply loved.
He is survived by his mother, Melody Doty and husband Salvador, his father, Harold Doty, his grandmother, Joyce Doty, his sister, Elizabeth Doty, his nephew, Payton Woolard as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend and we will all miss him dearly.
A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 29th at the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel.

We are deeply, deeply saddened of the passing of Ed. Ed was one of my son's (J.W.'s) long time friend. Looking through Ed's pictures, the one of him playing ball as a young boy brought back the memories of when he left his glove at our house. I gave it back to him about 2 years later and he thought that was pretty funny. Ed was a very kind and gentle soul. Ed always had a smile on his face. Again we are so sorry, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all of his friends.

I will always remember little Ed rocking out to the Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I go" when he was probably 3 or 4. Man he was the cutest little kid. And so loving. I was lucky enough to get a visit from him last Summer while he was on his way to see his dad. Love you Ed, and I'll miss you until we all meet again.

We all go through life with the love of friends and family
Even though we know they will all leave us eventually
Never knowing where the future might lead you
No worries though, there is a future for them too
Because even if they're not in front of you, they will always be in your heart
Nobody or nothing could tear a love like that apart
With that being said, my friend, you will always be with me
And when my time has come, I will meet you there, you will see
I know you are looking down on me now and then
Up in a place we like to call heaven
Make sure there is room for me when I get there
I don't know how long it will be before it is my time
So I'm letting you know with this little rhyme
That I will always be here, no matter where you are
You won't even have to reach out to me because I will never be that far
Don't ever fear because my love will forever send
And I will be by your side when my life comes to an end.

Props for such a great summary of Ed Ed and I never got a chance to spend much time together in recent years, but have known him, seen him around and chatted since high school putnam city days, and I deeply regret not taking time out of my schedule to spend more time with him. Life is so short. Rest in peace....condolences to family! His spirit, charm and kindness lives on through all. He will be dearly missed, and never forgotten.

We all loved you buddy! No matter how short or long it may have been since we saw each other or spoke, it was like it had only been a day. You'll always be with me, in spirit and in my heart. Through the good and the bad I always knew you were there, and I know that you knew I was too. I'll see you on the other side brother. Bless you.

Ed was a very good friend to our son Eric and was in fact the last person Eric was with before he passed away in 2014. Eric always spoke highly of Ed and I'm sure he was on the welcoming committee in Heaven. We are so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in our prayers.
