Ivan S. Knutson, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday April 26, 2017 surrounded by his family and friends. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 1:00p.m. in Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 West Lake Rd., Abilene, TX under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Ivan was born on September 11, 1934 in Lindsay, CA to Sigmon and Dorothy Knutson. Ivan helped run his family's Knutson Dairy Farm prior to joining the USAF where he would spend 24 years serving as an Avionic Weapon Delivery System technician and superintendent on various aircraft's including the B 52s. One of his duty tours took him to Thailand where he met and married his wife Sumol "Su" in 1974. As a skilled electronic technician, Ivan began his second 20-year career with IXC communication, formerly West Texas Microwave, just two days after his retirement from the Air Force.
Ivan is survived by his wife, Sumol Knutson; sister and brother-in-law, Somboon and Chin Keeragool; nieces and nephews, Chutima Keeragool, Apple and Chris Dore, North Keeragool; and great-niece, Annaliese Dore all of Abilene; brothers, Harrold and Kenneth Knutson; his sister, Carol Williams; and several nieces and nephews all of California.
