Clyda Mize, 96, of Colorado City/Snyder, TX passed away Friday April 28, 2017 at her Snyder home. Funeral service will be held at 22nd and Austin St. Church of Christ in Colorado City on Monday May 1st at 2:00pm with Brandon Denton and Royce Clay officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder. Kiker-Seale of Colorado City will be handling the funeral arrangements. Visitation will be at Kiker-Seale from 6-8pm Sunday, April 30th.
Clyda was born in Mitchell County March 31, 1921 to Olin and Vera Britton. She was a homemaker in the China Grove area for many decades.
Clyda is survived by son Darrell Mize and wife Linda of Snyder, daughter Pearlene Nolan and husband Dale of Snyder and a son-in-law, Curtis Shaw. Grandchildren Jon Shaw, Paige Shaw, Kristi Hanley, Rusty Mize, Nikki Miller and spouse Rob, John Stewart and spouse Jennifer, Cindy Burton and spouse Troy all of Snyder. Also surviving are 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 80 years, L.C., daughter Elsie Mize Shaw, grandson Todd Shaw, granddaughter Lana Shaw Culpepper, granddaughter-in-law Debbie Nowell Shaw, and grandson-in-law Bob Culpepper.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful medical staff at Cogdell Home Health & Hospice as well as her caregivers Esther Morales and Emma Braziel.
Clyda, otherwise known as 'Maudie' will remain in our hearts forever.
