Norman Gene Mullins of Jackson, TN went to his heavenly home on May 3, 2017. He was born February 24, 1929 in Stringtown, West Virginia to Elbert Luther Mullins and Myrtle Asbury Mullins who preceded him in death. He married Margaret Fowler Mullins and together they had 3 children before her passing in 1991. He later married Carolyn Hopkins Mullins, who also preceded him in death in 2016. He leaves his children, David Gene Mullins (Catherine) of Cordova, TN, Donna Ann Mullins of Chicago, IL and Perry Elbert Mullins (Denise) of Jackson, TN. He leaves nine grandchildren: Kimberly Christine Mullins, Rex Aaron Darmstaedter, David Ray Mullins (Linzie), Eric Alden Darmstaedter, Stephen Daniel Mullins (Angela), Jonathan Michael Mullins (Eve), Beth Ann Mullins, Tiffany Mullins Collins (Josh) and Sonja Rae Darmstaedter. He also leaves his beloved six great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his brothers Joe and Sammy, and his sister Shirley Rose. He also leaves two sisters, Irene Phillips and Dawneda Yost (George) and two brothers, Ernest Mullins (Jean) and Luther Mullins.
Gene served honorably in the United States Navy during WWII and later moved to Memphis, TN and was hired by Amoco Oil (Now BP Oil) where he worked for 40 years until his retirement. While in Memphis he was a deacon at Union Avenue Church of Christ and later a member of Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Church. After his retirement, he and his wife Carolyn moved to Jackson, TN and were faithful members of Malesus United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time outdoors.
The family will receive friends for a casual service celebrating his life at Malesus United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN on Saturday, March 13th at 1:00.
