Alice Marie Salazar (age 79)
Alice was born July 13, 1937 in Gardner, Colorado to Consolasoin and Mary Castro. She grew up with her 3 brothers (Sam, Zackary, Manual) and her 3 sisters (Cordy, Ofelia, and her twin Anna). Alice and her family lived in Pueblo, Colorado where she attend Central High School and graduation 1955. After high school Alice work in the hospital with her sister Anna as a candy stripper, where she meet and fell in love with her husband Benjamin Salazar. They married in 1957, where they had 6 children Benjamin, Adam, Elizabeth, Anna, Jennie and Daniel. They moved to San Jose, California where Alice got her CNA license and work in a nursing home. Ben and Alice's son Daniel passed away in 1965, two weeks after his birth. That was a very hard time for Alice and she never got over losing her youngest. Shortly after that she moved back to Pueblo, where her and Benjamin separated. She continued to work as a CNA in pueblo until her horrible accident in 1970. She was struck by an oncoming train and was hospitalize for several months. Alice was an able to work after that, so she became a stay at home mother. The following year she meet her companion George Lucero, in 1971. Her and George spend many year together raising her 5 children and his 2 children (George and Helen). In 1987, Alice moved to Spokane, Washington with her children and grandchildren and George followed shortly after. Alice spend her time enjoying her family.
Alice is proceeded in death by her son Daniel, her parents, her sister's Cordy & Ofelia and her brother Sam, her husband Benjamin Salazar and her companion George Lucero. She is survived by her Children Ben (Michelle) Salazar, Adam Salazar, Elizabeth (Andrew) Hiibner, Anna Steward and Jennie Gallegos, her sister Anna (Trinidad) Cordova, her brother's Zackary Castro, Manual Castro, as well as her grandchildren Kala ( Anthony) Curran, Joshua (Stephanie) Ferrell, Charles (Kayla) Gallegos, Marcelino Gallegos, Alicia Hiibner, Aaron Steward, Emilio Salazar, Ashlee (Frank) Salazar, Patricia Hiibner, Tessie Salazar, James Steward, William Steward and her 10 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on May15 at Thornhill Valley Chapel from 12-4pm followed by a Rosary from 4-5pm. The funeral service will be May 16 at Thornhill Valley Chapel at 11pm followed by a graveside at 1pm.
