Norma Ann (Slike) Vilsack, 81, of Kingwood Texas, passed away peacefully on May 1,2017 at her home surrounded by family.
Norma was one of four children born to the late John and Mary(Seigel) Slike in Struthers, Ohio. She graduated Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and worked general, rehab and industrial nursing. She married Jack Vilsack in 1957. Her love and compassion for others was reflected in everything she did ( nurse, wife, mother, volunteer). In her later years, she enjoyed reading, cooking, painting, sewing, and making yearly Christmas ornaments for her extended family. She will be remembered as a mom who loved and is loved.
She is survived by her sister Sandra (Slike) Koker (Lenny), brother John "Jack" Slike (Betty), daughter Susan, son David (Jeanette), daughter Nancy, son Richard (Kathleen), four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Norma is preceded in death by her sister Dorothy (Slike) Kelly, and loving husband of 59 years, Jack Vilsack.
There will be a funeral mass on May 15, 2017 at 11am at St. Martha Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, Texas, 77365. She will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like a donation to be made to the American Lung Association.
