Rillo, Salvador Vale Cruz

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Salvador V. Rillo announces his passing on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the age of 55 years. Sal will forever be loved and remembered by his parents, Salvador L. and Paz V. Rillo, his sisters Sarah Cook Ruggera (Rillo), Annabelle Balaoing (Rillo), his brother-in-laws, Phillip Ruggera and Gil Balaoing, nieces Jaclyn Cook, Rachel Ruggera Amanda Balaoing, and nephew Brian Balaoing. He was the happy owner of two Siamese cats, Saffy and Koke. Sal Rillo was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on July 28, 1961 and moved to California with his family at the age of 5 years. Practically a Native of San Diego Sal worked as a Graphic Designer for the City of San Diego and retired after 30 years of service in August 2016. He loved to travel, fashion design, participate in activities with his nieces and nephew, and enjoyed running and water sports. He was known for his beautiful smile, kindness, generosity, and ability to make people laugh their heads off. He made family events special with his artistic talents showing how he took pride in all of us. We will miss his infectious dark humor and way of lighting up a room with his jokes. In spirit we know he is always with us as there is an affinity to those who love each other. Goodbye dear brother, son, uncle, friend, family member and great human being.

Sal was my first crush in high school. We had so much fun singing and dancing together. We would write notes to make each other crack up. I think of him often, especially when I hear Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson and Earth, Wind and Fire songs. My thoughts and love are with his family.
Sal will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart.

Sal was one of the funniest and kindest people I ever knew. We met working at the City of San Diego 31 years ago, and his sense of humor and awesome laugh got me through some very horrible times. His dark humor would make me laugh so hard! I will miss our pizzas, trips to Starbucks, and deep heartfelt conversations.
Love you, Sal.

Love you cousin. I still remember as a little kid coming over and playing with the stuff in your room, you showing me the old clock trick, and you going on our first camping trip with me, my mom and dad. Although I didn't get to see you much in our later years your infectious happy spirit will always stay with me. With so much love....Jojoe Bean
