Johnnie Mae Peoples, 85, of Hot Springs, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 6, 2017. Johnnie was born in Mount Ida, Arkansas on April 29, 1932 to the late Charlie and Tennie Lisenby.
Johnnie Mae was known for her home cooking. Her down home style, genuine love, and desire to feed everyone rib-sticking food, endeared her to all who met her.
Those lucky enough to have known her their whole lives are her children,
Sylvia Mary Ann Matthews and Jesse Ashcraft; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and more than 17 great-great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her sisters, Betty Middleton, Lettie Alma Grinder, and Charlene Lisenby; and her lifelong friend, Jafee Donahue.
Johnnie was met in Heaven by her sons, A.J. Lane, Donnie Matthews, and Gary Lee Harbin.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the Pines Nursing Home Staff, Dierksen Hospice Staff, and Johnnie’s church family at Vista Heights Baptist Church who share her belief in Christ and love of God.
