Stefanie Pratt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 8, 2017.

Stefanie Leigh Pratt
March 22, 1963 – May 5, 2017

Stefanie L. Pratt, age 54, stepped from this earthly life into life everlasting with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 5, 2017. She probably feels a little sorry for the rest of us as we patiently await our graduation to heaven. Always the life of the party, Stefanie is now experiencing the party of all time.
Stefanie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 22, 1963. After a brief time there, her family moved to Speedway, Indiana. She graduated from Bethesda Christian High School in 1981. She was involved in many extracurricular activities in school including basketball, volleyball, and drama. She played the part of Mrs. Boyle in Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap," and Gertrude in "The Matchmaker." Math was never a strong point for Stefanie and she often joked about the horrors of it. She excelled in language and literature coursework, and went on to graduate from Cedarville College in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. During her Junior year, she played Mrs. Van Daan in "The Diary of Anne Frank."

For 28 years, Stefanie has worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in several different capacities. The most recent position she held was the Director of EEO. She was recently awarded the Exemplary Civilian Service Medal for her outstanding work. Never one to sit idle, Stefanie managed to spend many hours serving in her church as the children's choir director, taking ballroom dance lessons, acting in community theater, and doting on her nieces. She played memorable characters in "The Dixie Swim Club" and "The Hallelujah Girls." Her role as Mary Surratt in "The Trial of Mary Surratt" at the Dayton Playhouse FutureFest was by far a favorite. She made lasting friendships wherever she went. We joked about her phone being surgically attached to her hand so that she could keep track of her mass of friends. Social media was made with Stef in mind.

The reason that Stefanie can be assured that she is now whole and rejoicing in heaven is because she put her trust in Jesus Christ alone to make the way for her to be there. She entered into a relationship with God on the basis of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He conquered death for all who will come to Him and receive forgiveness for sin by putting their trust in His sacrifice for us. He is the one mediator between God and man, 1 Timothy 2:4-6. She wanted all to know this.

Stefanie is survived by her parents, Kermit and Ozella Pratt, her sister and brother-in-law Sandy and Brad Hayward, her nieces Natalie and Rachel Hayward, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her precious greyhound dog, Bambi.

We would like to acknowledge the support, help, and loyalty of her many friends from her church, Wright Patterson AFB, the theater community, Arthur Murray dance studio, and her neighborhood friends. Your outpouring of love for Stefanie is so much appreciated. Many thanks also go to Dr. Thomas Reid and the entire team of healthcare providers at Kettering Cancer Care for their expert care and love.

Visitation and viewing will be at Washington Heights Baptist Church, 5650 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, OH 45429 from 4 to 7pm on Thursday, May 11, 2017. Funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, May 12, 2017, at the church. Burial will follow at David's Cemetery, 4600 Mad River Rd., Kettering, OH. 45429.

Condolences can be sent to www.tobiasfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the following: Washington Heights Baptist Church, Cedarville University, or Hospice of Dayton.

I worked with Step in Base Supply and later in the Engineering Directorate at Wright Patt. She was a sweet, kind, decent Lady,I'm very sorry to read of her passing. May God keep her, so we can all meet again.

I had the pleasure of working with Stefanie on a number of EEO matters over many years during my tenure as Chief of Labor Law at Wright-Patterson AFB. Stefanie always was pleasant and helpful, smiling and gracious. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and business dealings. Being a Christian myself, I admired Stefanie's grounding in her faith, and her love for the Lord. I believe that she is with Him even now, and that He will tell her, 'Well done, good and faithful servant."

I will miss Stefanie so very much, and can't imagine her not being a part of my life. We met over ten years ago when we both auditioned for the same play, and she has been a dear friend ever since. She always looked at the good in everything and everyone, and has been a positive influence in my life.

Stefanie helped me through a difficult situation and I will always be grateful to her for sharing her sunlight (smile) with those around her. She took the opportunities that we all must take while we have the time - smile and share God's goodness to those that are hurting and really do not know him the way they should. I am grateful that she was a beacon light through-out my time knowing her from the days of Supply. What can you say but she was given an assignment and she made a difference. Praise God for her enduring strength.

Stephanie was a TRUE friend during my college days. I believe I once kept her from securing a part in a college play--because she was willing to let me try out with her....you will be missed, but you no longer have to suffer here on earth.

I was always amazed at the ease in which Stef was able to be a vital part of our WHBC church presentations. She had a gift in this area. She was a willing participant in so many great activities. She also was not afraid to share her faith and her personal struggles such as this final battle with cancer. She set the example in this. She is a good friend and sister in the LORD. I use the word "is" because those of us, like Stefanie, who trust in Jesus Christ will meet again. Love to all the family.

God bless Stephanie and our prayers continue for her family. We here in the Washington, DC area loved Steph. We appreciate all she would come to DC and help us with. She was always a joy to work with and that smile, priceless. The Air Force District of Washington is grateful for sharing her precious life. May she rest in peace and know that a job well done here on earth has earned her the glorious crown she wears in heaven. May God be with her family. Janice
