Mrs. Katherine Othelie Whiting, age 91, of Villa Rica, GA, passed away May 11, 2017. She was born September 6, 1925 in Miami, FL to the late Richard and Katherine Daisy Moeller Robinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Myron Whiting; brother, Dick Robinson; and son, Richard C. Whiting.
Mrs. Whiting was born in Miami, Florida where she met her husband. She and her husband loved to travel, especially out west. They lived in Peru for a while where she worked at the embassy as a translator. She was one of the first graduates from Georgia State University, where she earned Master’s Degrees in both English and Spanish. She taught English and Spanish in Broward County for many years. After her retirement, she tutored for the SAT and ACT. She loved the opera and classical music. She and her husband were proud members of the Florida Grand Opera. They also loved playing golf.
She is survived by her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Holli and Eric Davenport; great-granddaughter, Myia Davenport; sister-in-law, Suzanne Robinson; and nephew, Jim Robinson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:30 AM from the Rosehaven Chapel of Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home.
