KAMPWIRTH

Lawrence Paul Kampwirth, 70, moved on to his next adventure last week. He left unexpectedly, but, predictably, living his best life. He'll be profoundly missed by his wife of 38 years, Lorrie, his light; his daughter, Kristin, his heart; his son, Kevin, his hope; and his daughter-in-law, Marissa, his joy. Larry loved life and was awed by the possibilities of each day. When his hands weren't turning soil in his garden, they were searching out the keys of a Mozart piano concerto (emphasis on searching), turning the pages of one of the ten books he'd be currently reading, or shifting his bike gears on any given sunny day. He loved to talk, and be heard. He loved to listen, and understand. He loved to work, and to savor its rewards. A doer, a joiner, a leader, a friend, and a force, he was the glue of a family that includes his beloved brothers Robert (Patricia), Jim, and Donald; favorite sister, Mary Jo Cristino (Steve); and many nieces and nephews. There to greet him are his parents, John and Evelyn, and his brother, Tom, who surely has the jazz records ready to go. Larry loved flowers, but would've preferred donations to Doctors Without Borders, the Red Cross, or the Sierra Club. His sendoff will be Wednesday, May 17 at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646, from 3-9 PM, with a mass to follow on Thursday, May 18 at St. Mary of the Woods, 7033 N Moselle Ave, Chicago, IL 60646, at 10:30 AM. Mr Kampwirth was my 7th grade teacher at St Dominic's in Brookfield. He was the teacher that most shaped me for success. He was truly a gift from God. May God Bless him.

The Larry McMahon family is deeply saddened by Larry's sudden departure.
We all have such fun memories of him! What a character and when he got together with our dad it was pure laughter!
None of us will forget his deeply moving tribute to our father at dad's church service. I still have it as I am certain my siblings do as well.
He can now be the little angel sitting on your shoulders and taking everything in.

Lorrie and family. Our deepest sympathy. What a beautiful tribute to a great guy. Little did I know when we parted after Mass last Sunday, that it would have been the last time we sang together. I will truly miss you.

Lorrie, Kristen, (and Kevin, although we've never met)....I am deeply saddened by your loss and you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I was so lucky to have known Larry for the past several years. He always brightened my days when he was at the dental office. I can speak on behalf of our entire office when I say we will all miss him greatly. It was an honor to know him.
