COLUMBIA - Hoyt W. Derrick passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Born and raised in Columbia, he was the first son of Wilbur and Ada Kelly Derrick. He was married for 68 years to his partner in life, Earline and also survived by his son, Roger. He had two grandchildren, Brent and Stacy, and two great-grandchildren, Myles and Weston. Hoyt was an early pioneer and visionary in the automotive business in the South, having given many people their start in business through his knowledge and generosity. He lived his life on his terms and was the most loyal man we have ever known. The world will not soon see another of his character, caliber or zest for life. We rejoice his life and the opportunity he gave us to be touched by him. God speed and be at peace, you will be missed.
