Beautiful, elegant and the epitome of class,... a true lady...
Earlene Hubbard graced the world with her presence on Mar 3, 1929. She was the first daughter born to James Hubbard and Hazel Williams-Hubbard in Shreveport, LA. After her family moved to Dallas, she accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the family church, True Lee Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Lincoln High School and graduated in 1947. She met and married Lonnie Duncan, Sr. and from that union, Lonnie, Jr was born. Not satisfied with the status quo for women of her time, she returned to school at Bishop College and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. After the dissolution of her marriage, she would marry Rudolph Stevens. They would grow their family with the addition of another son, Matthew Mills. Never content with being a mere housewife, she pursued a Master’s Degree in Sociology. A true matriarch, her home on Bellcrest was a sanctuary for many who needed a place to stay or rest. She became a mother to those who had none, a teacher to those who knew none and a counselor to those who needed guidance. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Martha and Grandad Williams, parents, James and Hazel Hubbard, brothers Billy and Charles Hubbard. She is survived by her two sons, Lonnie Duncan, Jr (Merlyn) and Matthew Mills (Ida), and her grandchildren, Vittina Mills, Brian C. Duncan (Joi), Cory Duncan, Sr (Antonia), and Courtney Duncan. She also leaves to mourn her great-grandchildren, Ryan Richardson, Jordan Mills, Cory Duncan, Jr, Joshua Fluette, Brandon Duncan and Adia Duncan. As well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
