Maria "Kika" Rivera, 90, of Johnstown, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at her home. She was born on June 4, 1926 in Continental, Arizona to Pablo Nevel and Maria Fernandez Ramirez, upon the passing of her father, Maria was raised by her step-father Benito Ramirez.

Maria was raised in Mexico. On November 22, 1941, Maria married Ignacio "Nacho" Rivera in San Ignacio, Chihuahua, Mexico. In 1949 her family moved to Texas and then in 1955 they moved to Johnstown, CO. They were members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnstown for many years.

Maria enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, and celebrating her family's joyous moments. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a heart of gold. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed feeding her family, and anyone who came to visit.

Maria is survived by her daughters, Lupe (Manuel) Lozano, Soki (Ernesto) Vasquez, Gloria (Frank) Cantu, Olivia (Robert) Bais, Irma Crespin and Sally (Eligio) Grado; sons, Jesse (Cecelia) Rivera, Tony (Eramida) Rivera, John (Yolanda) Rivera and Adam Rivera; daughter-in-law, Mercy Rivera; sister, Manuela (Felipe) Perez, brothers, Ruben (Juana Maria) Ramirez and Raul Ramirez; 146 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ignacio Rivera, son, Leo Rivera, son-in-law, Samuel Crespin, grandson Chito Rivera, great-grandson Max Lozano, brothers, Reymundo Nevel, and Edwardo Ramirez and sister, Evangelina Holguin.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017 with Recitation of the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1000 Country Acre Dr., Johnstown. Interment to follow at Johnstown Cemetery.
