Janice Bowley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 18, 2017.

Janice A Bowley, 76, of Canterbury passed peacefully at the Hospice House on Monday, May 15, 2017 with her daughter Lela ("Lee") by her side.

Born October 28, 1940, in Newton, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Joseph and Ruth Quinn. She was raised in Waltham, Massachusetts and graduated from St. Mary's High School.

Janice was employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 19 years. She then accepted a management position at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua.
Later Janice worked at Family Care of Concord and the Family Health Center before retiring.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) at Christ the King Parish and served her church community as a Eucharistic Minister.

Determined to further her education, Janice graduated from college earning her Bachelor's Degree at age 62.

Janice loved the ocean, fishing and camping, especially at her favorite vacation spot, Lake Champlain, VT. A favorite past time was sitting in the sunroom enjoying the birds at the feeders. Janice adored dogs and was an enthusiastic volunteer at Concord SPCA. She was quick to laugh and easily made others laugh too.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold Bowley of Canterbury, her daughter Lela Holloran of Concord, her son Lewis Bowley and spouse Julie of Florida, and daughter Ruth Bowley and spouse Megan of Franklin. She also leaves 5 grandchildren, Lindsay and Eric Holloran, James and Justin Collishaw, and Matthew Bowley, and 8 great grandchildren.

After her diagnosis of COPD, Janice made it her passion to educate the family of the dangers associated with smoking. She is directly responsible for at least three family members kicking the habit permanently.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Christ the King Parish,(formerly St. John the Evangelist Church), 72 South Main Street, Concord.

Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Baptist Road, Canterbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the CRVNA Hospice House,
28 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301 or Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord, Merrimack County, 94 Silk Farm Road, Concord, NH 03301. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bennett Funeral Home of Concord.

Dear Harold and Family,

I was sadden to hear of the loss of my cousin Janice. We were very close growing up in our childhood days, unfortunately in our senior years we lost that closeness. I hope she will forgive me for letting that happen. I will think of her when I reflect on our families.
