Percy, what a guy, what a dear brother-in-law. I have many good memories of our family reunions when Percy would keep us laughing with the jokes that he presented as part of our family sharing program. He was always a happy person and through the past years I could only visit by phone. If I was the one who called the Meeks house and he answered, he would always be his happy self, but remind me that "this is your nickel, so when you want me to hush, just say so." On the lighter side, he would tell me that "June has gone to the store.....etc.....but don't tell her I told you this (the etc. part!). I felt so honored when he told me that he had written a book about his life and that he was sending me a copy. The title is so cute..."Percy F. Meeks, My Life, and the Way I Remember it - this is What I Remember and Things I Remember, and there is No One here to Dispute It." I still have the book and treasure it. Percy, you have entered the Joys of the Lord with Hank and many other special people and one day we will join you in that beautiful place called HEAVEN....

Our years in Douglasville were extra special because of our precious memories with Uncle Percy and Aunt June. I remember Ronnie and I arriving at their home in a big UHaul truck with Daniel (5), Hannah (2), and a fish named "Blue" that had surprisingly survived the long drive from Colorado in a large vase! Right from the start, they welcomed us with arms of love. They blessed our lives in so many ways. They loved our children and treated Ronnie and I as a son and daughter. We dropped by for "pop" visits at their home and shared some very special holiday memories as well. Uncle Percy was always a happy fellow with something funny to share. He was a man of many words. He had a special bond with Ronnie, who he fondly referred to as "The Pilot." We are all sad we couldn't be with Aunt June and the family today, but our thoughts and prayers are with you. The greatest comfort of all is knowing that our precious Uncle Percy is with the Lord and completely well, and we will see him again in heaven.
All our love,
Audra, The Pilot, Daniel and Hannah

My Uncle Percy was the best ever. What little bit of time I got to spend with Percy & June I will always keep in my heart. At the last Meeks reunion I recorded him telling some of his stories. To my family I know your hearts are breaking, he is telling his stories in heaven to all who will listen with all our family in heaven around him!! Love, your niece Melinda Meeks Fink

I first met Percy deer hunting with Tasker many years ago and remember those good times at deer camp with his little camper. He was a delightful man with a wonderful sense of humor and wit. We will always treasure our friendship and memories of Percy. May the family find comfort in his peace.
