Gary E. Chilson, 71, a resident of Keene, NH, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, following a short illness.
He was born October 8, 1945 in Pawtucket, RI the son of A. Edward and Myrtle E. (Cloutier) Chilson.
For more than thirty years he built a home and family with the love of his life DeeDee. Mr. Chilson served in the US Army in the Vietnam war, 1966-1969, with the 174th attack helicopter company. His awards include the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. For many years he worked for the US. Postal Service.
Gary enjoyed working on projects at home: whether working in his yard or spending time working on his 1986 Mustang. He also enjoyed trips to Kimball Farms in Jaffrey to enjoy time with family and fried fish. He was always willing to share his loving compassion and his warm sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife: DeeDee (Buffum) Chilson of Keene, his granddaughters: Bianca Dennis of Swanzey and Gianna Dennis of Justin, Texas; and extended family members including: his niece: Joanne and nephew: Bobby. He is predeceased by his daughter: Denise Ann (Russell) Dennis.
A Graveside service will be held in the NH Veteran's Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy. Boscawen, NH, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:30am. Family and friends are invited to call on the family on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 6 to 8pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ruck-Up Inc, 42 Upper Knight Street, Keene, NH. 03431, a nonprofit organization in the Keene Community which helps Veterans and their families.
