Mr. Marvin B. Wooldridge, 90, of Abilene passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017. Graveside funeral service with military honors will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene. Funeral services are under the care and direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 S. Abilene.
Marvin was born December 4, 1926 in Hardesty, OK to Ora J. and Evolena Stump Wooldridge. He served in the US Army from 1945 until 1946. At the age of 22, he married 16 year old Charlene Marie Peters and remained by her side for the next 67 years. He was employed as an Administrative Superintendent for Cabot Corporation. Preceding Marvin in death are his parents; son, Mike Wooldridge; four brothers; and three sisters.
Those remaining behind to cherish Marvin's memory and continue his legacy include his loving wife, Charlene Wooldridge; daughters, Sandra Dickerson and husband Brian of Arlington, TX and Shauni Vaughn and husband Tommy of Abilene; four grandchildren, Nathan Dickerson and wife Lindsay of Golden, CO, Cole Vaughn of Fort Worth, TX, Clay Vaughn and wife Natalie of Abilene, and Katy Vaughn of Abilene; one great-granddaughter, Madelyn Dickerson; and two more great-grandchildren on the way.
The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 on the evening of Monday, May 22, 2017 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 S. Abilene. Online condolences or memories for the family may be shared at www.elliotthamilfuneralhomes.com.
