Nancy Riedel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 20, 2017.

Nancy Lynn Woss Riedel RN, 78 very full, beautiful years. Born on the 4th of July 1938 returned home May 16, 2017. Beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin and Friend.

Born in Chicago to her cherished parents Minnie and William Woss and a loving family. Nancy was Baptized into the Church on July 31, 1938, and affirmed her Christian belief and became a full member of the Church on April 6, 1952. Friendships were formed early (one from 2 days old) and lasted a lifetime. She grew up thinking fireworks were for her birthday. Married John, her soulmate, on March 26, 1955 and nurtured her 8 children and loved ones.

Nancy had a huge ripple effect on those around her. She displayed Faith, Hope, Strength, Determination, Patience and a Love that bears all things. A demonstration of all those fantastic qualities were displayed in another part of her life. In an effort to provide for her family she returned to school. As a result of this continued education, she began her work as an Angel outside her home. First in a Doctor's office as an LPN where she was a steady smiling face for colleagues and patients. Returning to college and another new beginning as an RN working in Labor & Delivery assisting in bringing new life into this world and feeling so honored to be a witness to each little miracle. Later in her career providing care and comfort to the weak and the ill so they could continue to live at home and be with those they loved. Now she earns her real wings and gets to return to so many she loved.

She will always live in the hearts and minds of those blessed enough to be touched by her whether it was mere moments or decades. She could not be surpassed as a Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin or Friend. She was our greatest cheerleader, encourager, and overcomer. She shared the truth in Love. Until we meet again.

The Lucky Seven

Predeceased by parents William and Minnie Woss, Husband John, Son James, Step Brothers Bruce and Ronald Fickert.

Those joining her later are Children and loved ones: Wendy Downey (Ed), John Riedel, Judith Caron, Christine Breivik (Scott), Robert Riedel (Kim), Daniel Riedel (Sarah), Kathleen Tarro (James). Nineteen Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren. All the beautiful babies made possible by this lovely woman made her heart glow. Sister: Kathleen Stormant. Step Brother: Brian Fickert. Many, many dearly loved nieces and nephews as well as extended family along with longtime and lifetime friends.

What a joy it was to meet her at Amber and Chanel's wedding. In that brief time, we enjoyed conversing with her. She had a great sense of humor and an obvious strength of character. So sorry for your loss and happy that she has moved to heaven.
