Nina Marie “Peggy” Tyson Nanney. The battle is over. The victory is won! After a 50-year fight with heart problems and various complications from a June 2, 2016 open-heart surgery, Peggy (as she named herself) died on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. She was the fifth of six children born to Arthur Lee and Nina Hales Tyson of Fountain, NC. As a young person Peggy often sang specials in church; however, she did not accept the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior until she saw her need of redemption at the age of 21. She was married to her devoted husband Carl Fulford Nanney of Farmville, NC for 60 years. She received her PHT (Putting Hubby Through) from Bob Jones University in 1970 where she was assistant to the registrar to help Carl obtain a BS degree in Accounting. They spent most of their working years in Raleigh, NC where they owned and operated the Biscuit Station Restaurant and Ideal Accounting and Tax Service. They retired to Greenville, SC in 2004 in order to be close to their five grandchildren.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Vivian Smith of Atlanta, GA, Arthur Joseph Tyson of Wilmington, NC, Luellen Jefferson of Enfield, NC and Gail Flood of Macclesfield, NC.
She is survived by her husband Carl, her daughter Carla Glenn Nanney of Newport News, VA, her son Timothy Lee (Wendy) Nanney of Greenville, SC, and her sister Hazel (Robert) Pearsall of Virginia Beach, VA. All five grandchildren reside in the Greenville area: Meredith Marie (Chris) Pflug, Taylor Tyson (Shauna) Nanney, twins Kathleen Charlotte Nanney and Travis Lee Nanney, and Margaret Jean Nanney. Her four great-grandchildren are Sadie Mae Pflug, Adeline Taylor Pflug and twins Charlotte Elizabeth and Graham Tyson Nanney. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to her overwhelmingly generous and loving church family, Faith Baptist Church of Taylors, SC for their care for her these past 12 months. Words cannot express our appreciation to Debbie Vermillion for her daily devotions with Peggy at bedtime as well as the many other helps she offered. A special thanks to Interim Home Health, Interim Hospice and the numerous other caregivers.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Friday, May 26, 2017 at The Mackey Mortuary.
The funeral service will be at 1pm Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church, located at 500 W. Lee Rd. Taylors, SC 29687. Interment will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park in Simpsonville, SC.

Carl, Carla, & Tim:
My heart is heavy for you in the loss of your wife and mother but she's rejoicing in heaven with her Savior. So sorry that I'm going to be out of town and won't be able to attend the visitation and funeral. May God's grace be sufficient and very evident at this time.

Such a dear lady, friend, and Christian testimony of God's love. Our hearts rejoice that there is no more pain and suffering and she now lives victoriously in eternity with Christ our Savior! May God give you comfort in her absence until that day you are reunited together in glory!

Carla and all family,
All of you have our deepest sympathy and our thoughts and prayers. Losing parents has to be one of the toughest things that we have to go through in this life. Cherish your many happy memories from throughout the years as you celebrate her life. Remember as a Christian family you will all be together longer than you will be apart. God Bless all of you.

Mrs. Peggy Name was very special to me, especially during the time I was in Raleigh, NC. She and Carla kind of took me in and were great friends and singing buddies. Mrs. Peggy will be missed here, but Heaven is much sweeter with her there.
