Alice Gertrude Hall Clark, age 93, died peacefully in her sleep on May 18, 2017 at her residence in Gilbert, Arizona.
Alice is survived by son Larry & wife Alpha Clark, Kemmerer, Wyoming; daughter Karen Clark Smith & husband Phil Smith, Everett, WA; son Kim & wife Renda Clark, Gilbert, Arizona; and son Kevin & wife Cathy Clark, Keizer, Oregon; sisters Eleanor Sanders and Harriet Jones, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; and brother Robert C. Hall, Fillmore, Utah; along with 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by husband Delmar L. Clark and nine siblings.
Alice was born on April 12, 1924, in Pisgah, Iowa, to William M. Hall and Gertrude C. Hall. Alice came from a family of 13 children; she was ninth in the birth order. Alice graduated from Pisgah High School in 1942. Alice married her high school sweetheart on March 25, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. They were married for 59 years.
While Delmar was in the navy during WWII, Alice worked in Chicago at Douglas Aircraft as a "Rosie the Riveter." Son Larry was born in Sanford, Florida, after Delmar returned from overseas deployment. Following the war, they returned to Pisgah briefly, but when they lost their house to fire in 1946, they moved to Orem, where three children were added to their family. Delmar passed away in July 2002; Alice sold their home in Orem in 2006.
Alice and Delmar were active members of the Church of Christ. They welcomed many members of this church who came as students to attend local universities, including Vinessa Kaye Trotter, who lived with Alice 2002-2006 and whom Alice referred to as her adopted daughter. Many of these students and families kept in touch and considered the Clark's a second home throughout Delmar & Alice's lives.
A funeral is scheduled at 11:00 on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah. Viewing is at 9:30-10:30. Burial in City of Orem Cemetery will follow the service.
