Dear Dottie & Family, I am praying for you as you mourn the loss of your son, Cavid and your sister, Shirley. Please keep the wonderful memories that you all shared in happier times with you always. It has been a long time since we grew up together on Main Street in Stanley, but I still have such fond memories of you, Shirley, and Bernice. Since Frankie was a little younger, he kept me company when I was a lifeguard at Shuler's pool. My heart aches for the family as you grieve so much loss. With love and sympathy,

Oh, sweet Vandevanders,
What a tragic loss of such a kind and friendly neighbor. I grieve for you and with you, and will never forget that little snaggle-tooth fellow with a ready laugh, helping to can tomatoes, and the jolly Dad bringing the kids trick or treating in the barn. I will never listen to John Lennon again without thinking of him. Sandy

David and Dottie,
There are no words to express our sympathy with the loss of your son. Know that both of you, and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

May 25, 2017

Dottie and David I am so sorry and heart broken that this loss has happened to you. I remember having David in class and coaching him in football. He was a really fun guy to teach and coach. I remember David trying to do the moon log. Also, not only was he an offensive lineman that myself and Coach Duty coached but he was one of my defensive ends.

A really fun and interesting guy to coach. He is taller than me and I can remember him looking down at me and grinning as we addressed some defensive technique or adjustment. Then he would go out and execute the technique or adjustment. He was one of the better defensive ends that I coached in my 32 years. As a teacher and coach, these are the things we remember about the students and players we work with.

Once again, Suzie and myself send our deepest condolences to you and your family for this unexplainable loss. My hope is that at some point in the future your memories will bring warmth to you just as the coals from a fire do on a chilly night.
