Maxine Fantini was born in Jackson, Mississippi on September 14, 1935. She is predeceased by her mother, Eva Odell Greer, her brother, Rodney Glenn Greer, her mother-in-law, Giovanna Ganz, her sister-in-law, Pam Musselman, and her cousins, Ted Kennedy, Gordon Edwards, and Ryan Edwards.
Maxine graduated in 1954 from Galena Park High School where she was active in the National Honor Society, band and Student Council. She was voted "Best Groomed" by her senior classmates, and her motto beside her yearbook picture was, "Forgetting those things that are behind and reaching forth unto those that are before." She worked as a secretary for a year after high school, before leaving home to attend The University of Texas. She continued to work in Austin throughout college, and graduated from The University of Texas in 1959. After graduation, Maxine went to work for Tennessee Gas Transmission Company (later to become Tenneco Gas), a subsidiary of Tenneco, Inc. She served as an executive secretary for three presidents, and retired after 33 years.
In 1975, Maxine married her high school prom date, Louis Fantini. They celebrated forty-two years together on May 15, 2017. During their marriage, they traveled to Europe for many exciting trips. Italy was her favorite place to visit, as they would spend time with Louis's mother's family. There was much love and joy shared by bringing the two worlds together. Though Maxine was a UT alumnus, she and Louis traveled on many delightful trips with the Traveling Aggies alumni group.
Maxine was a lovely hostess and delightful guest. She loved to socialize and be among friends.
Whether going out to eat, or enjoying a meal at a friend's home, she loved every bite and was quite generous with her compliments to the chef! She especially loved the holidays and spending time with all her family and friends.
In 1992, Maxine joined The Blue Bird Circle, a non-profit organization, where she remained active and served in many positions. Her favorite activity was making Easter baskets and Easter eggs (she was always Cup-dye Chairman) for the annual Easter fundraiser. The Basket Birds will greatly miss her, and her many lively conversations!
From 2000 to 2015, Maxine and Louis would spend a month out of every summer in Vail, Colorado. They regularly attended Vail Interfaith Chapel during their stays, and enjoyed entertaining the many family and friends that visited them.
Maxine became a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in the early '60's. She loved her church family and retired last year as Treasurer of the Ordinary Life Sunday School class after serving 30 years. She also loved being a volunteer for many of the Church's wedding ceremonies.
Maxine is survived by her loving husband, Louis P. Fantini, her cousins Pat Edwards-Carroll and husband Conrad, Phillip Kennedy and wife Mary, and Diana Kennedy, her sister-in-law Helen Allee and husband William, seven nieces, one nephew, and numerous great nieces and nephews and cousins. She also has many family members in Mississippi that she visited every summer.
A service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church (5501 Main St. Houston, TX 77004) on Wednesday, June 7th at 2:00pm, followed by a reception in Fondren Hall. Maxine requested that any memorials in her memory be made to The Blue Bird Circle or The St. Paul's Foundation.

Maxine has been in my life since I was born almost 50 years ago. I have so many happy memories that involve her and Louis - especially ones in my adult years. Maxine shared her love of Vail, Colorado with me and my parents and we were so blessed to have spent so much time in the summers with them there and fallen in love with it ourselves. Maxine was always so cheerful and positive and concerned about everyone else. She was amazingly devoted to Louis and such an example to all of us of how to live and love.
My deepest love to Louis and all the family. Know that Maxine is forever in my heart.

I'll always remember Maxine as a smiling and friendly person. I've know her since I was a child and I considered myself lucky to have shared such privileged moments with her, in France, in Texas and even once in NYC.
I've had the chance to learn english with her, and even got my first electric guitar with her in 2000 in Houston. So many good memories.
I considered her part of my family, I'll deeply miss her.
My condolences to her family, and to uncle Louis.

We met Maxine and Louis almost 40 years ago. Since then, Maxine has been part of our family, sharing with us all the most important moments of life, pains and joys. She has been more than a friend to us, she has been a sister, she has been a mother, a grandmother to our children, she has enlightened our life . She was a beautiful person, always smiling, always concerned about everyone. We will love her for ever and thank her for all the happiness she brought to us. We have not only lost the dearest friend but also a part of ourselves today.
We offer our condeoleances to Louis, to the whole family.
