Kenneth Rancourt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 31, 2017.

Kenneth N. Rancourt, age 90, of Monroe, beloved husband of 68 years to Irene (Macey) Rancourt entered in to peaceful rest at his home on Tuesday, May 30th after a brief illness.

Ken was born in Redstone, New Hampshire on January 18th, 1927 to Albert J. Rancourt and Mildred Emily (Smith) Rancourt. Ken was pre-deceased by his brother, Albert G. Rancourt and two sisters, Jeanette T. Rancourt and Theresa Rancourt. Besides his wife, Ken leaves behind six children: Ken(Jane) of Center Conway, NH; James (Sharon) of Phoenix, AZ; Michael (Barb) of Pownal, Vt; Jan Czajkowski(Dave) of Sandy Hook, CT; Paul of Conway, NH and Norman (Heather) of Monroe, CT.

Ken graduated from Harding High School in Bridgeport and then served in WWII as a staff sergeant in Italy. Ken worked in Avco Lycoming retiring in 1985 after 33 years holding the position of Supervisor in the Research and Development Dept. When not working, Ken enjoyed working in his garden, growing his Christmas trees, helping his neighbors, and hunting in New Hampshire and Montana. His greatest pleasure came from watching his grandchildren (Jessica, Jan-Marie, Andy, Jordan, Janelle, Rebecca, Lauren, and Madison) and recently his great grandchildren (Macey and Jackson) grow into wonderful individuals. Ken also enjoyed the family's home in Eaton, New Hampshire, near where he grew up.

Family and friends will gather for calling hours on Thursday June 8th at Spadaccino and Gallagher Funeral Home on Route 111 in Monroe from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10AM at St. Stephens's Church on Route 25 in Trumbull. Internment will be at St. Johns Cemetery on Moose Hill Road in Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ken's name to the American Legion Post 176 in Monroe, The Wounded Warrior Project or Regional Hospice of Western CT, who the family is grateful for the support they have given Ken and his family to be able to be in his home.

I have many happy memories growing up with the Rancourts and I'll always remember Mr. Rancourt for all the help he gave my mom & I after my dad died. He was always there for us and watched over us. I will miss him terribly and our backyard chats. He was the best neighbor anyone ever had and dear friend. He is in a special place in Heaven.
