William Eubanks Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 31, 2017.

William Lester Eubanks, Jr. passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Houston, TX.

Born April 19, 1925 to Leona Craig and William Lester Eubanks Sr, in Wilmington, N.C. his siblings Marie Eubanks Clements and Ralph Clinton Eubanks grew up in the Tar Heel State of North Carolina. A graduate of New Hanover High School, Bill went on to serve four years of active duty during WWII in the United States Navy, rising through the ranks to become Quarter Master-Navigator.

Bill married the love of his life, Reba William Young on July 19, 1942. Being the best of friends, they shared 56 years of marriage and raised three children. Reba Kathryn, William Lester III and Fanchen Young. Moving his family to Houston in 1955, Bill left Wilmington and founded Kemco Industries. A true entrepreneur, Bill grew the business while also enjoying a broad spectrum of real estate endeavors.

But to think of Bill was to think of boats. A Captain and a yachtsman Bill loved the water and the vessels he captained. Some of his fondest memories were those made with family and friends on the water. Alongside pictures of those he loved, you would find pictures of his boats.
Bill will be remembered for his gregarious nature and kind heart; a man that loved his family and always found is way to a good deal. Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend this loyal TAR HEEL will be forever loved.

Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife Reba and son Bill. He is survived by his daughters Kay E. Taylor and husband Glenn and Fanchen E. Biegel and husband Bill, along with 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, 2200 Space Park Drive, Suite 100 Houston, TX. 77058 or www. woundedwarriorproject.org .

Fanchen & Family, I had the distinct privilege of having Bill as friend for almost three decades. His love of his family, boats and food made him a unique guy. His voice could fill a room and his generous heart could instantly warm it. I will savor the memories of boating and traveling together. Bill was simply the best. Your friend,

A lifetime of happiness, laughter and joy is the best memory of this remarkable man. Always the king of jitterbug with dear Reba, there are so many happy thoughts of Bill. The large clan left behind is the best testament to the wonderful life Bill lived. He will be great missed by our entire family.

Dear Papa,

Thank you for all of the wonderful memories, Christmases, oyster roasts, laughs, boating excursions and the gift of my father, your son, Bill III. You will be sorely missed and never forgotten by us. Most of all, though, thank you for being my grandfather. May God bless you as you join Mott, Dad and your parents.

Fanchen, we are saddened by the news of your Dad's passing. His was a generation that will never be duplicated. I always enjoyed visiting with him at your Christmas parties and reminiscing about the stuff we all did growing up. Please extend our sympathies to all of your family.
