LaSalle – Michael Allen Burge, age 70, of LaSalle passed away Wednesday, May 31st at 6:14 a.m. at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. He married Pauline Pomerleau on October 4, 1969 in Florida. She precedes him in death.
Michael and his family moved to Lexington in 1978. He worked at Napa Auto Parts for 20 years. He is an Army veteran, and served his country in the Vietnam War. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed shooting pool, attending garage sales, and following his beloved Miami Dolphins.
He is survived by a daughter, Debbie (Steve) Johnson of Saunemin; a son, Joe (Marsha) Burge of Cottonwood, Alabama; five grandchildren, Curtis (Candance) Garvin of Florida; Trahern (Angel Birge) Eggen of Florida; Elaine Potter of Ohio; Zachary Johnson of Saunemin; and Brittany Burge of Cottonwood, Alabama; three brothers, Dick (Libby) Burge; Jim (Peg) Burge, and Tom Burge, all of Lexington. Michael is also survived by several great grandchildren and two stepsiblings. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a sister, Connie.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 3rd, at 2 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Diabetes Association.
