The world lost a little bit of light and love today with the passing of Mary Lee Puckett. She was born on May 11, 1928 in St. Louis, MO to Claude John and Marie E. Jameson and spent her youth in Sikeston, MO.
Mary Lee had incredible accomplishments in her professional life. She broke many glass ceilings and laid the foundation for many women who came after her in her field. She was a devout Catholic and member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Mary Lee was quite the bridge player and was a lifelong learner and traveler.
However, the love of her life was her family. She was a role model to her two children, Bill Puckett (Porter) and Beth Weidower (Ron). In addition, she was incredibly loved by her five grandchildren: Liz Thurmond (Zack), Bill Puckett (Sally), Annie Lorton (Billy), Jamie Puckett (Rachel), and David Weidower. On any given weekend she could be found spending time with her grandchildren on fun adventures that will be cherished and remembered by them for the rest of their lives.
In addition to the family above, she is survived by her sisters: Anne Edmondson of Lake St. Louis, MO; Nora Springs of Sikeston, MO; and Kathleen Kafka of Maumelle, AR. She leaves behind seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Bynum Puckett, and her husband whom she married later in life, Ben Chambers, as well as her brother, C. J. “Bud” Jameson, and sister Patricia Scott.
Mary Lee was kindness, love, selflessness, and compassion. She was not one to be impressed by status or wealth, but by whom you were as a person and how you treated others. She made this world a better place, and she will be so dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Lee’s memory to Arkansas Hospice and the Arkansas Humane Society. The Humane Society always held a special place in her heart, and Arkansas Hospice now holds a special place in the hearts of the family she leaves behind.

Dear Beth, Bill, Ron, Porter, Kathy and all her family,
I'm so saddened by Mary Lee's death. She was a delight. Fiercely intelligent, kind, spunky. I so well remember the look on her face in conversation with Laura. When Laura was about 8, I guess, we were preparing to leave after a visit and Laura had become attached to a stick she found there and asked Mary Lee if she would keep the stick for her. Mary Lee said, "A stick takes up space. You'd have to pay rent for it, you know." Laura thought about that seriously for a minute and said, "Well, it's more of a twig, really." Mary Lee just hugged her. She was playful in a quiet and unexpected way. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I consider my life better for having known Mary and her sister Kathy. Mary was one of the brighter stars at Systematics but always was there is if you needed help.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
