Martha Winter, 79, of Columbia, MO passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 in Columbia. Funeral services will be 3:00pm, Saturday, June 10 at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia with visitation from 1-3 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Martha was born in 1937 in Randolph County, MO to Joe and Fonda (Smith) Bryant and grew up in Moberly, MO. She married Mel Winter in Linwood, CA on December 2, 1960 before returning to her hometown of Moberly. They resided in Columbia, MO for the last 51 years.
Martha was an active lady for many years at the Senior Center where she enjoyed playing BINGO. She and Mel spent much of their time together driving to new destinations, including once to Alaska. In her younger years, they enjoyed bowling. She dedicated a lot of her energy to vegetable and flower gardens and always had a lavishly decorated home for Christmas.
Martha is survived by her husband Mel; her three daughters, Kim (Bob) Winter-McGhee of Versailles, MO, Gayla Rauter of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Holly (Mike) Dillon Mittie of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Tanner (Michelle) Rauter, Allie Rauter, Jordan (Jordan) Dillon, Cayli Dillon, Tyler Dillon, and Mara McGhee; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Jessie Kitchen and Barbara Freels.
Donations may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
