After many years of service as a Detective, Harvey went on with his pursuits as a small business owner until retirement. He also enjoyed reading, woodworking and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and soccer and quite nights with his wife. Burke was my uncle. He was the 9th of 10 children and I am the 2nd child of the oldest of his sisters. He was a wonderful person and uncle. I guess our family is so large that I just recently found out about his passing. He was fun, knowledgeable and a great all round guy. A story I can share was when I visited Uncle Burke and Aunt Carolyn in spring of 2000. Carolyn was still working at the fire department and Burke and I ran around together for 4-5 days. One day we were in a restaurant for lunch and some people from the fire department were there. Usually when we met someone he knew he would introduce me. That day, he stopped and spoke to them but didn't introduce me. I am only 8 years younger than my uncle. When we got out of the restaurant, he started chuckling. Then he told me they would say that McCracken was out with a new woman. He knew Carolyn would know it was me and he thought that was very funny. I will miss him and the long talks we used to have on the phone.

Burke was my neighbor and friend for over 10 years. Burke and I hit it off from day one. I will always appreciate the kindness he showed to me and my two great danes. He was always around to give them attention and they would always look for him on our walks by his house.
We had many things in common and bonded over our projects. He was a believer in one of my favorite philosophies which is "it is only broken until we fix it". We were always in the garage working on this or that or just working on our respective houses to keep everything working on our 1970's houses. I appreciated all the times he would ask me for help because that meant he had trust in my abilities to do a good job and Burke was not one to do anything half way. Needless to say I had a lot of respect for Burke.
I would also like his sons to know that our conversations often included them. He was very proud of you both and often boasted of your accomplishments. Tiegan (I hope I spelled her name right) was the light of his adult life. He would crawl over hot coals for that little angel and I know he was grateful for every minute he got to spend with her.
Thank you Scott and Tom for inviting me to the service and allowing me to show my support. I'm sorry I wasn't able to share my time with Burke during the ceremony but I just couldn't get words out during that time and I'm glad I have the opportunity here to share with everyone that he was as great as a friend as he was as family. I take comfort that he is now with Jesus and his life struggles are past with a beautiful eternity for his future.

Burke was a friend/neighbor for 23 years. Thought of him like a 2nd dad. Woodworking/gardening/fudge/books just some of the wonderful things he shared. Burke and Carolyn were always there sharing and lending a helping hand. We have been so blessed knowing them. We miss them greatly but will carry lovely memories of the time we had with them. Love always.

Burke was one of the best men that I had the pleasure of knowing. A great friend and neighbor. He will be sorely missed.
