51, of Tampa, Florida, passed away at home on June 10, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born to Kristine Rosendale Valashinas and Robert Valashinas in Binghamton, New York, Rob attended Seton Catholic High School and then Clarkson University and Keystone College before transferring to the University of Houston to play on the University’s tennis team. Graduating with degrees in Finance and Marketing from the University of Houston, Rob worked for Waterhouse Securities as a broker for a time before opening his own event photography business, Double RL Enterprise. His lifelong love of playing tennis led to many wonderful memories, tough matches and treasured friendships. Rob and his family moved to South Tampa from Boynton Beach, Florida in 2015 and built valued friendships in their new hometown - something for which they are both grateful. Rob, Kimberly, Lauren and Bobby enjoyed attending Hyde Park United Methodist Church and are appreciative of the support extended by all in that loving community.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Murphy Valashinas, his beloved children Lauren Elizabeth Valashinas and Robert Lawrence Valashinas, II, his mother Kristine Valashinas, his sister Sara Doty and husband John and nieces Sabrina and Megan Doty, his brother Ryan Valashinas, his aunt Linda Griffin, cousin Heather Biro and husband Gary and their children Ava and Jack Biro and many other loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Robert A. Valashinas, his maternal grandparents Melvin and Ida Rosendale and his paternal grandparents George and Mary Valashinas.
Rob loved tennis, fast cars, good wine and his family - all with passion. He was famous for his strength of determination (aka stubbornness), his unique fashion sense and dry sense of humor. Everyone that knew him recognized the Fight in him that allowed friends and family to enjoy his smile for more time than his doctors ever believed possible.
In his youth, Rob loved volunteering alongside his maternal grandfather Melvin Rosendale at the Association for Visual Rehabilitation and Employment in upstate New York. If you wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers it can be made to AVRE, 174 Court St., Binghamton, NY 13901, www.AVREUS.org. A celebration service will be held for Robert at Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 500 W. Platt Street, Tampa, FL on Friday, June 16th, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.

Kris, Sara and Ryan and Rob's family,
So sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful son and brother and neighbor to us while growing up in the same neighborhood. From all that I saw on FB, Rob made the most of his precious time with his family and friends these past two years. I learned a lot from Rob back in the day from playing tennis to playing a 'mean' game of backgammon which he always beat me at but taught me how to play with strategy. You are all in my thoughts and prayers today and in the days ahead. RIP Rob!!!
