On June 14, 2017 Virginia left this world for her most exciting and beautiful journey ever. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jimmy D. Johnson; son Jeffrey D. Johnson and wife Susan of Apex, NC; daughter Jill R. Johnson of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughters Lauren J. DiMartino, and Leslie J. Whiteside (Luke) both of Apex, NC; and a great granddaughter Samantha DiMartino; and numerous relatives and loving friends.
Virginia was predeceased by her parents, Dee L. and Cecil R. Chandler and sister Bobbie C. Hiott, all of Greenville, SC.
She loved her church, Mountain Creek Baptist Church, of which she was an active lifetime member. Only after her love for God, family and friends was her love of travel. She visited much of the world seeing God’s magnificent creation.
Virginia retired after twenty-three years from Greenville County Schools in the Wade Hampton High School Library.
The family will have visitation at 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 18, 2017 with a 3:30 pm service to follow at Mountain Creek Baptist Church, Greenville, SC.

I shall always remember those wonderful experiences I had with Virginia at Wade Hampton High School. I cherish those wonderful trips she shared with me through those delightful pictures and descriptive narrations.
I have pieces of her crafts (art) in almost every room of my home--remember the blue bird?
I do know that this is a difficult time for you, but wrap yourself in the peace of God and His Grace will sustain you.

Virginia and I were friends for many many years. We were childhood neighbors making playhouses together. We walked to Paris School and enjoyed it. She had PERSONALITY PLUS. She loved life. My sympathy goes out to her lovely family. Jeater Forrest, Mt. Creek Baptist Church...

Jill, I know you took such good care of your mother. I am sure you will miss her but now you never have to see her sick again. God bless you and your family.

There are so many wonderful memories of our families together at church, traveling and camping. One memory that stands out most is all of us singing one of Virginia's favorite hymns "Unclouded Day". Virginia has found her home where no storm clouds rise, her unclouded day. She will be greatly missed. Mildred Whaley and Deborah Thompson
