Austin Silva Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 18, 2017.

Austin Daniel Silva went to be with his Lord Jesus June 15, 2017, after a tragic accident nine days earlier. Austin was born September 15, 1999. He was named after the city where his father came to know Jesus. He was born and raised in Dallas, in the Lake Highlands community. He attended Lake Highlands High School and would have been a graduate of the class of 2018. He enjoyed being a soccer referee with LHSA since 7th grade. He was a member of the LHHS Wildcat Wranglers, Varsity Tennis captain, secretary for the Men's Service League, and VP for National Honor Society. He was a member of Watermark Community Church where he participated in a weekly small group for the last six years, lead team during HS, and teaching Sunday school to preschoolers for the last 3 years. We are so grateful for all the teachers, coaches, church leaders and friends that helped shape Austin along with us during all of these wonderful opportunities and school.

Austin will be so remembered by his warm smile and happy spirit. He loved hanging out with his friends, new adventures, joking and teasing, staying fit and working hard. He will also be missed as an awesome big brother to Sam and Charlie. His resume and personality were all any parent could ask for their upcoming senior and college bound son. Nevertheless, the most import thing about Austin was his faith in God. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in elementary school, he was baptized in junior high, and he recently shared his testimony with hundreds at our HS ministry. In the last year, he even had the privilege to lead a friend to the Lord and help baptize him. Austin was not perfect, and he was aware he needed a savior, and that moved him towards his relationship with God. Needless to say, his entire family is devastated by this loss, but they take comfort in the joy he brought to our lives and our hope that rests that Austin is home with his Lord. We are also thankful that Austin's organs were able to help five more people continue life.

He is survived by his parents, Suzanne and David Silva, his sister and brother, Samantha and Charlie. His Grandmother - Consuelo Silva of Temple. His aunts and uncles and cousins- Ed & Liz, Katie Featherston & Michael Thornton of Joshua, Christy & Steve, Christopher & Jack Pezanosky of Fort Worth, Charles & Tracy, Eleanor, Wyatt, & Eric Jack of Aledo, Brad & Andrea, Shannon & Melodie Jack of Flower Mound, Becky & Norman, Elisa & Christopher Northen of Temple, Juliana & Jeff, Ella & Bebe Davis of Kyle, Joey & Rachel Silva of Round Rock, Gregorio & Ari Palomino of San Antonio.

Our family also wants to express our great gratitude to our wonderful ICU medical staff at Children's Medical Center with Austin's care and our back bone of friends, family, and community who prayed, showed up in force, and loved us mightily as we battled for Austin's life. Today, we grieve Austin together and we love each other better as hopefully our priorities are more aligned with the Lord's.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online to Camp Barnabas, www.campbarnabas.org/donate or Mission of Hope Haiti, www.mohhaiti.org. These are two places Austin would have spent part of his summer volunteering at with our church youth group.

Austin was truly an amazing person. Though I only got to meet him once (at a family reunion) he made an impact on my life. You never realize how truly precious life is until it's taken. I miss him with all of my heart but his dedication to GOD is truly inspiring.

I've known Austin since elementary school, but I didn't get to truly know him until this past year when I joined tennis. He made me feel welcome and a part of the team even though I had never played tennis in my life. That was just the beginning of our new friendship. As the year went on, we started talking and hanging out on the weekend more and more. I will always remember the good times we shared. I am truly thankful I got to know Austin Silva as a person, believer in God, and friend.

Austin was one of my most favorite tennis friends all of both my freshman and sophomore years. He was always encouraging, selfless, kind, funny and thoughtful. But none of these words could describe the friendship I grew to have with Austin. There were tremendous amounts of inside jokes we had together and as a team (most often teasing each other) and memories that will last a lifetime. Austin was not only an amazing friend I had but a teacher. Not only did he teach me about tennis, but he taught me about Christ. I can remember asking him for advice a number of times and his reply was always so sympathetic and christ-like. He also taught me what it meant to have patients and showed an amazing example of what it truly means to be a servant of humanity. My heart is heavy, but I will always cherish the memories and experiences I have with Austin. Mr. and Mrs. Silva, thank you for everything you have done for our tennis team and our community as a whole. Thank you for giving us the gift of Austin and teaching him to be the wonderful young man he was. Austin's smile, his love for others, and his love for Christ will always be remembered and be an example for others.

Throughout these past couple years, Austin was the guy I could always turn to when I needed something, and I knew no matter what, he would be there. He was the guy that could never fail to make me laugh with his sarcasm and sassy wit. He was also a constant source of encouragement and accountability in my faith. Being around him always spurred me on to want to be more like Jesus and pursue that relationship. His walk with Christ naturally showed to everyone around him through his servant heart and the way he pointed others to Christ. Silvas, thank you for allowing us all to be blessed and impacted by your amazing son. He will be very missed, but I know that he is having an amazing time already up in heaven, and I cannot wait for the day when we are all reunited. I love your family and you will all continue to be in my prayers.

Austin was by my side for the majority of our junior year and throughout the short time that I knew him he blessed me with wisdom, knowledge, and motivation. He left a huge impact on me and my relationship with God. He taught me how to read and interpret the Bible and invited me to his church (Watermark) because he was so interested in my walk with Christ. Mr. And Mrs. Silva, thank you for blessing all of us with your amazing son, he will be very very missed. You and your family will continue to be in my prayers.

Throughout high school, I've had the honor of sharing a few classes with Austin where we became good friends. Our growing friendship allowed me to see how amazing of a man he was. I will always remember him as a natural servant, leader, genius, and jokester. I was always in awe of seeing his inseperably close relationship with his savior, which helps to comfort me because I know he is with that special friend now. He has influenced me and many others to carry on his legacy by being kind, caring, and loving just like he was. Much love and prayers to the Silva family.

Mr. and Mrs. Silva, Sam and Charlie, I cannot express how much I miss Austin. I absolutely loved every moment I spent with him. Not only was he a joy to be with, he was a light to everyone around him, never forgetting to show Gods love to everyone he came in contact with. Austin was able to teach me more than I could have asked for. The way he discipled others always put me at awe. I cannot wait to rejoice in heaven with him one day. I know he is rejoicing every minute with God and waiting for us to join him (with that headband on:)) Continous prayers are being sent up to the Lord for strength and comfort. Love everyone of y'all so much.
