Wilma Jean Gregory Ray, 87, of Bloomington died in her home on Monday, June 19, 2017. She was born August 31, 1929 in Decker, Indiana to Cameron Leo Gregory and Katherine Iline Zigler Gregory. She was a retired seamstress.

Survivors include her children, Sheila Giannini, Bryan (Marie) Ray, Clarence Anthony "Tony" Ray, Timothy Ray all of Bloomington and Gregory (Teresa) Ray of Ellettsville; two sisters, Norma Porter of Worthington, and Doretta Hearth of Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren, Kendra Miller, Summer Ray, Devin Ray, Brent Ray, Mason Ray, Matthew Ray, Ashley Ray, and Brandon Ray; 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Edward Ray; two brothers, Norman Gregory and William Gregory; a sister, Loretta Kent; and two grandsons, Patrick Ray and Christopher Ray.

Wilma was a member of New Unionville Baptist Church where she loved teaching Vacation Bible School. Prior to the birth of her children, Wilma worked as a nurse at Bloomington Hospital, she then became a seamstress having worked at many dry cleaners and alteration shops where she specialized in wedding dresses. She also worked out of her home and would often refuse payment for her services.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third ST. Funeral Services are scheduled on Thursday June 22, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Chris Meadows officiating, burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Wilma has been a dear friend down through the years. We had our last babies just two days apart at Bloomington Hospital. Tim on October 12th and John on the 14th, in 1963. Lots of special memories of the Ray family. May you feel the peace and comfort that only a living God can give.
