Georgia Courtney, our beloved mother, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 18, 2017, after a brief illness.
Georgia was born December 4, 1937, in Vernon, Texas to Albert and Leah Ballard. Brownwood was her home for most of her adult life where she was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Georgia loved gardening, restoring furniture and building things with her hands. She loved to dance, go shopping and spending time with her family. Georgia had a strong faith in God and we know she is dancing on streets of gold with loved ones in heaven.
Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Leah Ballard, two brothers, Bill Ballard, Pete Ballard and one beloved son, Jimmy Courtney.
Georgia is survived by her children, Johnny Courtney of San Angelo, Jack and Berry Courtney of Granbury, Lisa and Kenneth Harris of San Angelo, Joe and Lauralee Courtney of Round Rock, eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Fife Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Online memorials can be left at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com
