September 11, 1959 – June 19, 2017
Janet left her earthly home Monday, June 19, 2017 after a courageous 30 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Janet never complained about her situation. She always had a smile on her face and she loved to laugh.
Janet was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Rev. Richard Earl and Nilla Reece; her maternal grandparents, Carl and Grace Jones; her oldest sister Deborah Reece; and her niece April Martin.
Janet is survived by her parents, Bobby and Louise Reece of the home. She is also survived by her sisters Mitzi R. Arnett (Phillip) of Raleigh and Donna R. Martin (Robert) of New Bern; nephews Justin R. Martin of New Bern and Kevin R. Arnett (Lauren) of Raleigh. She is also survived by a son Joshua S. Raper and two grandchildren
.
Services are scheduled for Friday, June 23, 2017, at Cotton Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm followed by the funeral at 3:00 pm in the chapel with the Rev. Dr. Richard Seagle, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in New Bern, officiating.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to: First Baptist Church Memorial Garden Fund, First Baptist Church, 239 Middle Street, PO Box 1463, New Bern, NC 28563; or to the Greater Carolinas Multiple Sclerosis Society, 3101 Industrial Drive, Suite 210, Raleigh, NC 27609.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Cotton Funeral Home and Crematory.
