Frances M. Purcell, age 92, received her mansion in Heaven on June 22, 2017 in Tampa, surrounded by her loving family. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her during her departure and ultimately gave her peace. Frances was born to the late Pate and Dorothy McCollum, a farmer and a homemaker respectively, in Marietta, Route 2, Pickens County, South Carolina on December 31, 1924. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie V. Barbour and son in law, Buz Barbour, her grandchildren Denise Arnold, Nichole Carlisle and Lori Jones their husbands; her daughter in law, Katie McCormick and grandson Kyle McCormick, her great grandchildren, Nicholas, Leeah, Sara, Ethan, Luke and Alex, her brothers, George Lynn McCollum, in South Carolina and W.C. McCollum, in New Jersey and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husbands, her son, Kenneth McCormick, U.S. Marines, and daughter, Patricia M. Ward, and an infant daughter Shelby Jean.
Frances will be buried at the Garden of Memories Cemetery on Monday, July 3, with a family viewing at 10:00 AM followed by a 11:00 AM service for friends. The Reverend Theron Chewning will officiate the service. The family gratefully declines flowers and donations, but prayers, condolences and memories are gladly accepted.
