COLUMBIA - Lisa Rene Cogdill Pfeifer died peacefully at her home in Columbia with her family by her side on June 26, 2017. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for two long years but now has found serenity in God’s eternal home.

Lisa was born on October 20, 1959 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was the daughter of Gary Alan Cogdill and the late Ellen Simmons Cogdill. She was also the loving wife of 26 years to David Michael Pfeifer and blessed with one daughter Madison Elise Pfeifer.

Lisa’s family and friends will treasure her fun loving nature and her sincere caring of those she held dear. She loved gathering everyone together for trips, playing games, going to concerts and family dinners. Lisa was a natural storyteller who captivated others with stories and jokes. She loved beach trips with family and vacations with friends. All of those who loved her will miss her genuine nature, joyful spirit, and beautiful smile.

Lisa attended Spring Valley High School and held the position of Corporate Secretary at Seibels for 35 years.

Lisa served as Seibels’ chairperson for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for over 5 years, working hard to raise funds to fight the disease.

Lisa was a member of St. John Neumann Church for 15 years.

She is survived by her father, Gary Cogdill of Irmo; brother, Alan Cogdill and wife Kris of Chapin; sisters, Melanie Lillian Cogdill of Columbia, Kelly Hennelly and husband Tom of Atlanta, GA, and Suzie Yeager and husband Jeffrey of Peachtree City, GA; her in-laws, Joe and Pat Pfeifer of Bluffton, IN; brother-in-law, Rich Pfeifer and wife Jackie; sister-in-law, Jenny Esmond both of Bluffton, IN; and brother-in-law, David Ewald of Des Moines, IA, whom was married to the late Lisa Pfeifer Ewald. She will be truly missed by her many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 7 at 6:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, 3926 Devine Street in Columbia. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church at 100 Polo Road in Columbia.

David and Madison, my heart goes out to you both. It was a shock and so sad to hear of Lisa's illness and death. I worked with Lisa at Siebels Bruce for many years. We both loved to talk so we did a lot of that every chance we got. Over the years I would run into her and we would try to catch up with each other. I feel so very blessed to have known Lisa. She had such a positive attitude which was a big inspiration to me. I will forever remember her beautiful smile and heart of gold. I pray God will give you both peace, comfort and strength to get through the days ahead.
Love and prayers, Melody Hill

I lived behind the Cogdill family when we were growing up in South Carolina. My sister Carol Bowes Bell and Lisa were great friends. I remember how beautiful she was, how bright her smile was and such a sweet personality. I hope the happy memories of what a shining light she was will ease the pain of her loved ones.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Lisa back in the 90's at Seibels Bruce. She was so much fun and so beautiful. She had a charm that was infectious. I remember your wedding well. My old band played your reception. What a beautiful couple! I know you have such a void in your lives now. You are both in my prayers. Rest in Peace sweet girl.

Dave & Madison, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Lisa was such a special lady and I feel blessed I got to know her these past few years. I remember being nervous during my first day of work and she greeted me with a huge, comforting smile. She always had a positive, cheerful energy that was truly contagious. She was also kind, thoughtful, and a whole lot of fun! When I first moved to the area, Lisa took me to all her favorite spots in town. We would then use our lunch breaks sometimes to go to Devine Street and shop together. I'll cherish the memories forever! Praying for peace and strength for you both during this difficult time.
