James Milton Connell, Jr. died on June 28th. Milton was a wonderful husband and dad. He worked for Lockheed Martin over 30 years. He told everyone his job was “to wire wires and screw screws.” Born in Inverness, FL, Milton was an outstanding athlete for Citrus H.S. He loved all sports, especially football and basketball. At a young age, he became an avid supporter of Gator athletics. During his life, he also enjoyed hobbies such as hunting, fishing, metal detecting, and arrowhead hunting. He was keenly interested in Florida history and the Civil War. Along with this interest, he went metal detecting to search Civil War battle sites for relics. He was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Connell, Sr. and Dessie Boswell, and his sister, Bettye Connell. He was loved and will be missed greatly by his wife of 58 years, Sylvia Connell and his daughter, Sara Beth Connell.
Services will be held at Baldwin-Fairchild in Winter Garden, FL on July 7, at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to UF Cancer Center or National Kidney Foundation are recommended.
