High Point- Jesse Elmer Ward, 90, entered his eternal home on June 27, 2017. Elmer was born on September 25, 1926, one of ten children, the son of Marvin Hill Ward and Corrina Luck Ward.
He was married on September 23, 1944 to Grace Marie Ridge. Elmer proudly served in the Navy at the US Submarine Base at Pearl Harbor from January 1945 to April 1946. He returned to High Point where he worked for forty five years at Carolina Container and was fondly known as "Junior".
He lived on Eugene Avenue for most of his married life. He and his wife had one child, Danny Phillip Ward who lives in Texas with his wife Sandra Smith Ward. He had two grandchildren, Danny Steven Ward of High Point and Jennifer Annette Osborne of Texas. He had seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
He lived at Brookdale Skeet Club for four years. He attended High Point Friends Meeting for most of his life.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on July 1st, 2017 at Sehcrest Funeral Service of Archdale. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends are invited to join the family following the burial at Sechrest Funeral service for a reception.
