On Wednesday, June 14, 2017, Henry “Hank” John Deutschendorf II, of Escondido, passed away at the age of 29. Hank was an extraordinary martial arts instructor and deeply adored son, brother, uncle, friend and mentor.
Hank was born in Los Angeles on April 29, 1988. He co-starred as baby Oscar in Ghostbusters II. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 2006 and went on to attend SDSU. He trained in multiple styles of martial arts. He earned his third and fourth degree black belt in Kempo. He started his school, West Coast Martial Arts Academy, in 2007 with his brother Will. Together they have successfully run the school for the past ten years.
Hank was known for many things, above all his kind hearted nature, loving hugs, wit, and his caring, optimistic personality. Hank was a great mentor and teacher to his students. For recreation, Hank enjoyed playing competitive games with friends, meditating, spending time with his family, training in martial arts and helping others.
Hank will be forever remembered by his parents, Ronald and Terri Deutschendorf, and by his brothers and sisters Ron Jr. (Julia), Castle (Wayne) Byrd, Angel (Jeff) Shaw and Will (Sharon). Hank will be lovingly remembered by his girlfriend Keemia Ranjbaran, and fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Chris, Naomi, Desiree, Allie, Trey, Ronnie and Terri, as well as other extended family and dear friends.
A Celebration of Hank’s life will be held on Saturday, July 8th at 1pm at El Camino Memorial, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego 92121.

I met Hank when he first started the West Coast Martial Art with Will, Steve, and Bob. That was 10 years ago. Hank was a gentle and kind young man. As years passed, I noticed changes and his struggle. I will always remember him as a enthusiastic young man eager to learn about everything, his funny laughter and his friendly attitude he has shown me and my children. Thank you Hank.

With love and light greeted
Things sorely needed
After all the chaos and the pain
Mind and spirit unfettered, regain.
Sorrow upon your passing
Though love and joy surpassing
Through the brief years you were here
Are what, now, all hold so dear.
May joyful reunion be yours, now
Though in grief may our heads bow
Done with the rigors you valiantly fought
Your life is become a valuable lesson taught.
Take no care for the morrow
Don't delve too deep in sorrow
Life is for the living
Love is always giving
Whether in the present or not
'Tis the best treasure we've got
To have loved and to give love
This, eternal and free, from beyond and above.
With deepest condolences,
Pastor Timothy & Mrs. Heidi Roberts

Though i only saw you in a film as a baby decades ago, you made a impact on all of us who loves all things Ghostbusters, would have loved to have met you in person. I can't help but feel the world is a bit less interesting without you in it. Vaya con dios from El Paso Texas
We will watch over your brother, he's permanently one of us, we have his back.

Hank, You will be missed forever. I remember you and the gang back in high school, that you guys were always the life of the party. There was always a smile on your face and you were always full of positive energy that would radiate to others that crossed paths with you. I know you and would go on and achieve bigger and better things... with your spirit and positive energy, you have touched so many lives and will watch over your loved ones from another world.

Hank will truly be missed but forever remembered in our hearts. I will cherish the times working with him on math (Algebra 3-4 and AP Calculus) despite not being his math teacher at the time. He made me a better teacher. His warm spirit made us all better people overall. I feel blessed to have known Hank and am so proud of all his accomplishments! My love and thoughts to his brother Will and the Deutschendorf family.

Hank I did not know you personally but you touched the lives of many including family, friends, loved ones and your students who admired and looked to for guidance and wisdom. You gave so much of yourself while dealing with the hard reality of severe depression. Your fight to live your life showed true courage and love of family. Spread your wings and fly Hank, you are an angel and you can now be at peace.

I will miss you Hank. You were one of the few that was just as competitive as I was. The only difference was you were actually good at the games we played, I wasn't haha. Thank you for letting me be part of team boobies, thank you for defending me when I couldn't defend myself, thank you for all the sleepy panda/ koala attacks, and thank you for being an amazing friend and brother to me. You may be physically gone but as Allie has said to me and Will, "you are still in our hearts and our memories."
