Barbara Gladden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 30, 2017.

Barbara Berkshire Gladden passed from this life and experienced the promise of heaven in the early morning hours of June 28, 2017, at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. Her beloved daughter, Michelle Snyder, and her dear friend and cousin, Judy Gladden were at her side.
Barbara was born to Frances and Robert Berkshire in Plainview, Texas on October 7, 1950. She attended schools in San Angelo and Odessa before graduating from Permian High School in 1969. Barbara then attended Odessa College.
Barbara married Ralph Lynn Gladden in Odessa on March 24, 1972. Barbara and Ralph's marriage was blessed with two children, Michelle and Jamie, both of whom were the "apples of their eyes." Barbara's love of family was infused into every moment of every day. She was totally involved in the lives of her children and was even more engaged in Ralph's activities. Her love was unconditional.
For several years Barbara was the office manager and bookkeeper for Gladden Service Company. Later she pursued her Realtor's License and sold real estate. In 2016, she retired from Southwestern Machines and moved to the Texas Hill Country.
Life for Barbara was Faith, Family, Friends, and Fun. Barbara spent her time caring for those around her; most important to her was that everyone was comfortable and happy. She loved sharing an evening of great food with great friends, always making sure that great fellowship was at the heart of the evening. Her generosity, beautiful spirit, and zest for life will long be remembered.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Robert Berkshire, her beloved husband, Ralph Gladden, and her precious son, Jamie Gladden.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle Snyder, and husband Reed, of McKinney, Texas; and the grandchildren she loved with all her heart, Samantha, Tripp, and Drew Snyder. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. James Berkshire of San Angelo. Other family members include Debbie and John Pankey, Judy and Roland Gladden, and a host of other special family members and dear friends.
Funeral Services are entrusted to Frank Wilson Funeral Home, 4635 Oakwood Drive, in Odessa, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Frank Wilson. Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm, July 1, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 315 W. 8th Street, Odessa, Texas. Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Michelle,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I sold Real Estate with your Mom years ago and we became friends. You were her world---saw her before she moved and she told me about her grandchildren and she lit up when she was telling me about them. She was a dear sweet lady, but I know you know that. I am so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose your Mother. I'll be praying for you. Sally Holloway

My deepest condolences to the family. I am so sorry for your loss. I attended Wayland Baptist University with her brother Dr James Berkshire in the 70's. I consider Jim a friend though we have not made contact in a while. Though I never met Barbara I am sure she was a fine human being as I remember her Brother James to be. I also had the pleasure of meeting their parents as well and they too were fine and decent human beings. Jim as a fellow ex Wayland Pioneer, and Odessan, I pray that God gives you and your family strength and comfort in this time of sorrow and loss and let you know that I and your Wayland family grieves with you.

I am so sorry to hear the news about Barbara's Passing. She was one of the sweetest ladies on this planet. I got to know Barbara at the jewelry store some 35 Years ago. I can't help but think how happy she was to see Ralph and Jamie as they joined hand in hand on streets of gold. It breaks my heart to know I will not see her come in the store with that smile of hers. She was always quick to ask how everyone in my family was. I struggled with words with her the last few times she was in because I knew her heart was broken with the loss of her Son as well as her husband Ralph. She will be truly missed and I am so blessed that she crossed my path during this brief stay here on earth. Barbara, you were a JOY!!!
God bless your family during this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to your family during this most difficult time. There are no words that can ease the pain of losing someone so beloved. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that your loved one is in God's memory, because those who pass on are precious in his eyes. Psalms 116:15.
