Hot Springs native, Wayne Nicholson, passed away June 26, at the age of 70, in Dallas, Texas. Wayne attended Lakeside School where he was active in the band as a trumpet player. In high school and his first four years of college, he was Music Director at Lakeshore Heights Baptist Church.
Wayne received a BME from Ouachita Baptist and did post-grad work at UT Austin. After college he moved to California, where he grew to love the Sierra Nevada mountains and learned to fly. Besides flying and music, his passions were fishing, horse-racing and computer programming.
For the past several years Wayne has lived in the Dallas area working as a 2nd-tier U-verse support technician for ATT.
Although a fan of classical music, he also loved plain, country humor—especially Jerry Clower.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Mary Nicholson. He is survived by a sister, Nita Redmond; three brothers, Edmon, Charles, and Glen Nicholson, and their families; an uncle, O.B. Nicholson; and many loving cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held at Gross Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 5th with a memorial service to immediately follow. Inurnment will take place at a graveside service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Family Place in Dallas.

I was so sorry to hear about Wayne's passing. I have lots of memories of visiting with your family while we were growing up. Wayne was always practicing his horn, and didn't want to be bothered by his sister and cousin. I love all the photos of your family. We are out of town this week, so I can't make the service. Please know that you are all in our prayers. May God bless and comfort you all at this time of loss. Frankie and Gordon Fendley, Pearcy, AR

So sorry for your loss! Prayers for peace and comfort for the Nicholson family at this difficult time!
I had the privilege of working with Wayne for 5+ years and it was a joy to have him work on the Uverse TRC Evening Team! Wayne was a very kind, soft spoken, compassionate person who was not only a work acquaintance, but also a friend who we will miss very much!
Prayers Always,
