Anastacio "Stacy" "Joe" Gonzales passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28 in his home. He was born in Hanford, California, the 5th of 10 children to Lino Gonzales, Sr. and Modesta Landeros Gonzales. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War with the 45th Div. as a gunner on a half track. After the Army, he entered the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio, in 1957. He worked in Denver for a few years, finally settling in San Jose in 1965. He worked for the David Meat Co. and the Denver Meat Co. in the Santa Clara Valley. Joe retired as a meat cutter from Lucky Stores in 1997. In his retirement, he enjoyed making new friends and socializing at Antipasto's Deli, McDonald's and Stuft Pizza, never passing the opportunity to have a cup of coffee. Joe had a wide circle of friends and was involved in various organizations, especially with Spirit of '45 where he was a founding member. He shared his wisdom, always looking forward each semester to talking to students at SJSU. Joe also enjoyed attending Oakland Athletics games.
Joe is survived by his loving children, son Jonathan and daughter Corina (Anthony), and their mother, Gloria, and his pride and joy his adoring granddaughter, Annemarie. He is also survived by his brother Manuel of Hanford, CA, and two sisters, Tina of San Jose, CA and Mary of Porterville, CA, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Rosary will be held Thursday, July 6, 7PM at Willow Glen Funeral Home, 1039 Lincoln Ave, San Jose. Funeral Mass is Friday, July 7, at 11AM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 750 Sequoia Dr. Milpitas, followed by burial with military honors at Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose.

Uncle Tacho was a little man with a Big Heart, tons of knowledge, stories and love. He always would ask if I still did the hoola hoop and why I like ice cream so much. I don't do the hoops but I do eat the ice cream. My kids and I will miss you dearly. Corina and Jonathan , what a beautiful service . I could see your strength , courage and love throughout the day. As the tears build during those moments of sadness remember something silly he might have said or done , it helps I know. Take care of Your mom, my Aunt Gloria , love you all, cousin Liz

So sorry for your loss. I met Stacy decades ago as a fellow Meat cutter. He was a great meat cutter, a great Union member and friend. We would talk endlessly about our Oakland Athletics and life in general. He was a good man and a gentleman. He will be truly missed.

Condolences to the Gonzales family. Joe was a very special man. He was a Spirit of '45 hero and will be missed. Our events will seem empty without Joe there in uniform. God Bless.

Dear Auntie Gloria, Jonathon, and Corinna,
It's so hard to know just what to say.
I'm sorry I won't be there to give Uncle Tacho a proper farewell. What I can say is I am left with many memories of an uncle who taught me how to eat chilies when I was little and the ice cream he gave us when we didn't cry afterward. I remember when he taught us to sled on the dry grassy hills in Milpitas on a hot summer day and the fun we all had.
I know how hard it is to lose a father and the empty space he leaves behind. But I believe he has already given you all you need from him and so I also know you will not be without him as long as you keep him in your heart.
Auntie Gloria, I can't imagine what you're feeling right now, but I will always love you.
To all of you: remember, you are not alone. You still have a loving family who will be there to help you. You only have to reach out. We are here for you always.
My family and I will keep you in our prayers.
Your loving Cousin and Niece,
Cathy

Gonzales family,
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I understand that loosing a loved one can be difficult. But, I also know how important it is to have people that love and support you there for you during difficult times. I hope I'm your case that loving friends and family will help the healing process - Proverbs 17:17.
