Akridge, Richard Cmdr. Retired US Coast Guard, 88, of Tampa entered into rest on Saturday, July 1, 2017. He was born in Macon, GA to the late Richard and Susie Akridge. Richard proudly served in the US Coast Guard for 29 years, he was an avid golfer, dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteer and longtime member of Lake Carroll Baptist Church. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Helen; three children, Gary (Tatiana) Akridge, Julaine (Mitchell) McCandless and Lance (Ruth) Akridge; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Cameron, Cortney and Logan. He now joins his three siblings, Margaret, Raymond and Harold. A visitation will be from 10-11am with funeral service at 11am on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Lake Carroll Baptist Church, 12012 N Rome Ave, Tampa, FL 33612; burial will follow at 2:30pm at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Meals on Wheels or LifePath Hospice. Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood
