Carol Ann Barrington Marshall, 78
Carol Ann Barrington Marshall, beloved companion and mother, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Mt Vernon Hospital. She fought a long battle with diabetes and succumbed to heart failure at the age of 78.
She was the youngest of 13 children of the late John & Jessie Barrington of Springfield, Ill. She is survived by her long-time partner, Frank Jozsa; his daughter Eva Jozsa and his sons Frank, Steven & Leslie Jozsa of Woodbridge, VA; her daughter Jeanne Marshall of Reston, VA; her son John Marshall of Fredericksburg, VA; her grandsons Matthew Fuller, Jordan Marshall, Ian Hodges, Benjamin Marshall, Andrew Marshall, Christopher Hodges, Aaron Marshall, & Noah Marshall and her former husband Robert Marshall of West Palm Beach, FL. She is predeceased by her former fiance Stephen Bartosh.
She owned a restaurant, sold real estate, managed a trucking company and sold software during her career. While raising young children she was an active volunteer with the Junior League. In her later years she was an active volunteer with the Knights of Columbus. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and cooking. She is remembered mostly as the strong single mother who put her children and later grandchildren first in all things. Some lights burn so bright that the world seems a darker place without them. Carol was such a light for many in her life. We will miss her smile, her hugs and the smell of wonderful food from her kitchen.
Services will be held at noon Thursday July 6, 2017 at Demaine Funeral home. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in lieu of flowers.

We are all very saddened by Carol's passing, but more importantly, are incredibly lucky to have had her in our lives. She was both a blessing to us and to our father, Frank. She was his rock and his home. Always upbeat and positive regardless of how she was feeling she was an example of grace through all of her trials. We will miss her greatly. Love to you and your family. Frank & Patty Jozsa
