Connie Sue Basford, 59, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 1, 2017.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Vega with Deacon Raymond Artho officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in the church with Father Grant Spinhirne as celebrant. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors 5400 S. Bell St.
Connie Sue Basford was born Dec. 27, 1957, in Dalhart to Gilbert and Eva Gallegos. She graduated from Dalhart High School in 1975 and then moved back to El Paso, where she fell in love with the love of her life, James Basford. Connie and James were married on Aug. 13, 1977, in El Paso. They had one daughter, Heather Pond.
They later moved to Vega, where she was a substitute teacher for Vega Independent School District for many years. Connie was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Vega and taught Catechism classes for several years as well. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved them dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Gallegos; and her father, Gilbert Gallegos.
Survivors include her husband, James Basford of Vega; a daughter, Heather Pond and husband R.L. of Amarillo; a brother, Greg Gallegos and wife Barbra of Jeffersonville, Ind.; her brother, Steve Garcia and wife Theresa of Dalhart; her brother, Randy Gallegos of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Jaxton, Presley and True Pond of Amarillo and Sophie Pavlas of West; and seven nieces and nephews.
The family suggest memorials be to Accolade Home Health Care and Hospice.
