Ellen Marie Beebe Lingenfelter, 97, of East Peoria passed away Monday, July 3, 2017, at Rosewood Care Center.
She was born on July 1, 1920, the oldest of four children, in Peoria County to Lawrence D. and Leisel Ellen Sprague Beebe. She married Henry Alexander Lingenfelter on May 23, 1939, in Peoria. He passed away on June 30, 2002, in East Peoria.
Surviving are her children, Dale H. (Mary Ann) Lingenfelter of Avon, IL, Carolyn "Susie" (Richard) Shepherd of East Peoria, Leisel M. Lavery of Peoria and Sarah E. Lingenfelter of Mackinaw; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Judith Ann Hohimer in 1996; two sisters; one brother; and two grandsons.
When her husband was serving in the Navy during World War II, she took his place in the factory at Caterpillar Tractor Company until the end of the war. She drove a school bus for the East Peoria Pleasant Hill Grade School. She owned and operated Lingenfelter's Christian Bookstore in Peoria, and later in East Peoria. She was a member of Peoria First Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria, with Pastor Mark McCall officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Mackinaw Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Programs at First Church of the Nazarene.
