David Bechtel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 5, 2017.

Mr. David Bryant Bechtel, age 46, of Dallas, GA., passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017. Mr. Bechtel was born on September 27, 1970 in Huntsville, AL., as son to Mr. Thomas 'Tom' Bechtel and Gloria Joan Bechtel.
Mr. Bechtel was a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he met his loving wife, Sheri Joseph Bechtel. David and Sheri were married for twenty-two, wonderful years and built a beautiful life together. Mr. Bechtel was currently working as the CDTS Manager for Accenture Global. He managed a geographically diverse team - from the U.S., Argentina and India - in the development of a complete digital tools set for Accenture to be used worldwide. He was the driving force behind the day-to-day operations and management as the tools lead for the project - deemed critical to the global Accenture network. If David was not at work, he could easily be found on a ball field coaching his three boys in baseball, football, or basketball. He also enjoyed playing Golf and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. There wasn't anything David couldn't fix or put back together, no matter how difficult the task may have been. Though David worked diligently at his job and other personal hobbies, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family and raising his three boys. He was a wonderful son, husband, father; he will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Debbie Joseph.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sheri Bechtel; three sons, Brendan Bechtel, Ryan Bechtel, and Joshua Bechtel; parents, Tom and Joan Bechtel of Huntsville, AL; siblings, Jeff Bechtel and Christy Bechtel, both of Huntsville, AL; father-in-law, Anthony Joseph Jr. of Dallas, GA; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. David Bechtel will be held at three o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, July 9, 2017 in the Chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Lundy officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. A reception will follow Interment services for David at the 1890 House of WInkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. Please visit www.winkenhoferpineridgefuneralhome.com to share memories and leave your condolences with the family.

I had the good fortune to know David, through work, for a few years. He was a good dude that I enjoyed talking with and would turn to for his expertise and ability to make sense out of difficult issues. He will be greatly missed. Rest well, buddy

You were a superb person to work with! Especially the famous "David roar" in the conference calls will be forever missed. You were a great coach and motivated us regularly to achieve the tasks and appreciated the smallest of our efforts which encouraged us to take larger challenges.

David, may your soul rest in peace.

You were the best big brother that any girl could ever ask for. Not many 20-something young men would give up their weekends and weeknights to coach their little sister's softball team. I never realized what a sacrifice it was until I was in my 20's and was out having a good time with my friends, and then it occurred to me what you were doing at that age. I don't think I ever properly thanked you for that, but I was always quick to tell others that you were my coach and I was so proud.

I will always remember you taking me on dates with your girlfriends in high school to the yogurt shop. There was that beach vacation when I was really little that you and Mardi had me fully convinced that I could make people disappear.

When I was deciding between Penn State and Florida State for college, I remember you looking at me with that smile and saying "just don't pick Florida State". I know without a doubt, that you would have secretly supported FSU if I had chosen to go there. I'll never forget you, Sheri and little Brendan driving all the way up to Penn State for my college graduation. The fact that y'all did that, meant more to me than you will ever know.

I'm so thankful for the last weekend that we all had together and what a miracle it was that we had the whole family together one last time. I'll even let it slide that you kicked my butt in ping pong. I hope you are practicing up there, because one day, I will beat you again. Until then big brother, just know that I love you and miss you so so much.

I worked with David for several years right when your family moved to Atlanta. We worked together on a particularly difficult account and he always brought positive energy and a smile. He also loved to joke with me as I'm an Auburn grad. I'm so sorry for your loss.

A Successful Man
That man is a success-
who has lived well, laughed often and loved much;
who has gained the respect of intelligent men
and the love of children;
who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
who leaves the world better than he found it;
who has never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty
or failed to express it;
who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.

Hello Bechtel family. I'm not sure if you remember me, but I am Anabelle's big sister. We were neighbors in Senator's Ridge. I want to start out by sending my condolences to you and your family. Some of my fondest memories were watching Annie and your boys play outside. Thank you for being so kind to my family. You and David raised such wonderful boys that brought so much joy to my family. I am so sorry for your loss.
