Victor S. Morris, Jr., 69, of Dartmouth passed away quietly in his home Wednesday, July 5, 2017 after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Leonor (Tavares) Morris.
Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Victor S. and Helen (Holmes) Morris he lived most of his life in Dartmouth and he was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.
Mr. Morris served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a machine operator Swan Finishing and a news courier for the New Bedford Standard Times. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and working on his yard. He especially enjoyed watching his grandson's baseball games and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mark Morris and his wife Michelle of Fairhaven; a daughter, Paula Grieve and her husband Kevin of Cumberland, RI; three grandchildren, Matthew and Savanna Morris and John Grieve. He was the brother of the late Nancy Whitehead.
His funeral will be Monday, July 10, 2017 at 9:30 am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Rivet St., New Bedford. Burial will be in S. Dartmouth Cemetery, Elm St., Dartmouth. Visitation will be Sunday 3-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or www.cancer.org. For online tribute/directions www.waring-sullivan.com.
